IN LOVE WITH BALI

We are a couple of nomads who used to explore the globe. The day we stepped our foot on Balinese ground one thing was clear - we fell in love. We kept coming back every few months and understood that this is a love affair for a lifetime. We fully moved here in 2018 and been exploring the island ever since. We’re excited to share what we’ve found and show you this beautiful corner of the world.

On my first day with Wawe I felt very insecure on a surfboard, I was a beginner and I even told him that I wasn't sure if I could stand up, but he knew which waves to take me to and I was able to stand up a few times. I had Wawe for two weeks as an instructor, where we went every day to surf for 2 hours and I can say that the change was remarkable. It is also very nice to have someone who is always in a good mood, has a lot of patience and you can tell he likes to see his students improve. He has a lot of confidence in his students' abilities and that makes you have confidence in your own abilities as well. That's why by the end of my two weeks we were already going to the peak of the waves and catching them without his help, but always with his enthusiastic guidance. I highly recommend him, even if you think you know how to surf a little bit, because he gives you the tools and the basics to surf properly. Thank you very much Wawe for your help, my experience in Siargao would not have been the same without him.

I came to Siargao to improve my surfing skills, and through Wawe, I was able to accomplish that. Even though I had prior informal lessons, Wawe did not forget to remind me about the basics and fundamentals of surfing. Because these are the things that I will bring with me as I progress in my surfing. He constantly reminded me to bend my knees and to take things slow. There is a misconception that we need to do things fast in these kinds of extreme sports. From paddling to popping up to wiping out, to get the most out of every wave and energy you have, you must take things slow. And more importantly, just have fun. Surfing can be frustrating at times but don’t forget to have fun. Other than surfing, he would pick me up and bring me back home even though it’s on the far side of General Luna. He would also bring me to restaurants that aren’t really known but are really good. And would make me try different food in Siargao. Having Wawe as my surf instructor made my trip to Siargao whole and fulfilling. I can’t wait to go back and continue to improve with his guidance. If you’re a beginner to intermediate surfer, Wawe is perfect for you.
